“I need an adult” is a phrase used to describe or announce one’s discomfort towards something someone did or said.
Origin
“I need an adult” is a quote taken from the Family Guy episode “He’s Too Sexy For His Fat”, which aired on June 27, 2000. In the beginning of the episode, a security guard in a supermarket accuses Chris of smuggling a ham under his shirt when he’s really fat. Chris feels like he’s being molested so he yells out the quote.
The phrase did not catch on until 2007, two years after Family Guy was picked up by Cartoon Network’s [adult swim] programming block.
