On March 31, 2011 a picture was posted to Reddit’s /pics subreddit titled “This cat looks like Lenin. Your argument is invalid.”. The photo was voted to the front page, and shortly after several image macro variations began popping up on Reddit, Quickmeme and Memegenerator.

Lenin was a was Marxist revolutionary in Russia known for founding the USSR, the first officially socialist state. His political theory known as “Leninism” was developed from Marxism and adapted to agrarian Russia.
