Dating Site Murderer, also known as “Good Intentions Axe Murderer”, is an image macro series using a creepy low-lit photo of a bearded Redditor, with text employs a bait-and-switch similar to Successful Negro.
The top line seems to be of murderous intent, while the bottom line changes the phrase into something sweet or romantic.
Origin
On March 21, 2011, Reddit user spawn02000 posted a picture of himself, saying “I uploaded my picture to a dating site… So far no hits… :(”
After this post made it to Reddit’s front page, he posted a follow up “Ok so I changed the picture on the dating site, Still no hits… :(”:
The images quickly became an in-joke on the reddit community spawing it’s own image macro series.

A Quickmeme page was created on March 22, and kicked off the initial wave of image macros. An Urlesque article was written the next day with a collection of some of the more notable examples. A Memebase post went up on March 24th receiving quite a few votes, and MSNBC picked up the story the same day. BuzzFeed frontpaged a “best of” post on 3/25/11.
